The Assembler Challenge | |
Of all the programming languages in common use today, Assembler is
the most complex, and costly to maintain, re-engineer and transform. Making
a change in an Assembler program is almost three times the complexity of COBOL and up to six times more complex than making a change in a more
modern language. And IBM Mainframe Assembler is the most
functionally rich and complex of all.
The combination of a diminishing pool of skilled developers, together
with often complex un-documented code and a lack of
effective analysis tools can make Assembler based applications a
significant drain on maintenance resources and a serious inhibitor to
business flexibility.
