Legacy Assembler Options
There are three viable options to address the issue of Legacy
Assembler systems, that also allow organisations to retain the years of
investment in the development of the business logic to support the
organisation:
- Maintenance - continue to maintain and enhance your legacy
Assembler applications, but do it better, faster and more cost effectively;
- Re-engineer - identify where existing functionality needs
to be retained and where new functionality needs to be designed, and
combine these requirements into a re-engineered application;
- Migrate - transform all of the existing functionality of
the Assembler application into a High Level Language such as C or COBOL.
