Interactive Data Tracker

This interactivity also works from the Editor to the Data Catalogue and the Program Flowchart. In the following example, the Data Item ‘WKLENGTH’ was identified in the Editor.

Using the right-click menu options, the Data Item is then highlighted within the Editor [10 Items Found] and interactively within the Program Flowchart, and identified within the Data Catalogue.

The Editor is context sensitive to the assembler constructs and ‘understands’ the difference between a data item and a piece of text. Therefore a programmer can manually identify a potential data item and first check to see if Fermat agrees that it is and then find where and how the module uses it.
Finally, the Editor can export the source file out of the Fermat project to any location that is accessible to the user on the network. In this way the programmer can utilise Fermat to analyse the module, make any amendments deemed necessary and then export the source file back to, say, a central development and test system prior to it being inserted back into the production system.
